Integration Software Engineer - Lending Compliance

We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our team, contributing across the full software development lifecycle and helping deliver reliable, high‑quality solutions that support both customer and business outcomes.

Mo te tūranga | About the role

In this role, you’ll work collaboratively within a cross‑functional team to design, build, test and maintain software solutions. You’ll be hands‑on in delivery, learning and applying strong engineering practices while working within a regulated environment.

• Develop and maintain a strong understanding of ASB’s lending and collections processes, strategies, and customer communication methods
• Build, configure and deliver strategic system changes that support business and customer outcomes
• Contribute across the full SDLC including analysis, design, coding, testing, documentation, deployment and support
• Deliver quality solutions that enhance reliability, availability, security and recoverability
• Ensure all work aligns with relevant regulations, policies and engineering guardrails
• Identify and manage risks early, escalating where required
• Work collaboratively with teammates to deliver customer‑focused outcomes
• Take part in agile, iterative ways of working and contribute to continuous improvement

• Experience configuring and deploying strategies within a collections platform (preferred)
• Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or a related field (preferred)
• Evidence of ongoing professional development and a desire to keep learning
• Experience working within one core technology stack, with a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals
• Ability to understand technical trade‑offs and explain them clearly to different audiences
• A methodical approach to problem‑solving, including unfamiliar or non‑routine issues
• A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn from, and contribute to, the wider team
