Senior Product Owner

As a Senior Product Owner, you will operate at a mission-level, leading one or more cross-functional squads to deliver high-profile, strategic outcomes that create meaningful value for our customers and business. This is a senior role with increased scope, influence and accountability — shaping product vision, guiding multiple teams, and driving delivery across complex, enterprise initiatives.

You will play a critical role in delivering large-scale

Pricing and Underwriting Transformation, balancing customer outcomes, commercial value, and governance requirements. Acting as a key connector across the business, you’ll partner closely with Tribe Leads, Delivery Leads, senior stakeholders and other Product Owners to align priorities, manage dependencies, and ensure delivery is cohesive, strategic and outcome-focused.

What You’ll Do

• Own product direction across a mission or strategic initiative, aligning multiple squads to deliver end-to-end outcomes
• Define and manage mission-level backlogs, making priority, sequencing and trade-off recommendations and decisions to maximise value and ROI
• Play a key role in quarterly planning, discovery and backlog refinement, ensuring alignment to strategic objectives and customer outcomes
• Partner with Tribe Leads and senior stakeholders to shape product vision, strategy and roadmaps
• Proactively manage dependencies, risks, and trade-offs across teams and stakeholders
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, influencing decisions and aligning delivery to business priorities
• Champion experimentation and evidence-led decision making, ensuring outcomes are measurable and future-focused
• Ensure strong governance, compliance and delivery standards across initiatives
• Foster cross-team collaboration and contribute to uplifting Product Owner practice and ways of working
• Coach and mentor Product Owners and squad members to support sustained, high-performing teams

What You’ll Bring

• Significant experience as a Product Owner or in a senior product leadership role within complex environments
• Strong background in New Zealand financial services, ideally within General Insurance
• Proven track record delivering large-scale, complex change initiatives, with accountability across multiple teams
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and executive leaders
• Deep experience in Agile delivery at scale (e.g. working across multiple squads or programmes)
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to balance customer value, risk and return on investment
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to operate with autonomy, pragmatism and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
• Passion for developing people and uplifting team capability and performance
