We have an exciting opportunity for a Fire Design Engineer to join our team in Auckland. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys delivering effective, buildable fire engineering solutions and can contribute confidently from day one.

You will bring strong hands-on experience in fire design within a New Zealand consultancy environment and be comfortable working independently across a range of projects.

About The Role

As a Fire Engineer, you will provide fire engineering design services across projects with preparation of fire reports and drawings, undertaking site visits and inspections, and supporting project delivery from concept through to completion. Every building is different and the challenges we work on constantly change, we assess and deliver practical solutions, strong technical design, and produce documentation for building consent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver fire engineering and fire design consultancy services across a range of projects
  • Prepare fire reports, compliance assessments, and supporting documentation
  • Apply New Zealand Building Code fire requirements and relevant compliance pathways
  • Develop practical fire design solutions for complex building challenges
  • Undertake site visits, inspections, and construction monitoring as required
  • Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, councils, and project stakeholders
  • Peer reviews of fire engineering assessments
  • Existing building review and assessments for compliance
  • Contribute to developing and growing the discipline and services we offer to our clients

About You

  • Relevant engineering qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural, or a related engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience delivering fire engineering or fire design services within a New Zealand consultancy environment
  • Strong working knowledge of the New Zealand Building Act and Building Code requirements relating to fire design
  • Demonstrate practical application experience with C/AS1, C/AS2, and performance-based fire design solutions
  • Proven experience undertaking site visits and inspections
  • Be capable of developing practical, compliant, and commercially realistic fire design solutions independently
  • Possess strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Be organised, proactive, and delivery-focused
  • Enjoy working in a team environment and communicating with a wide range of people
