Te turanga - The role

We have a permanent opportunity for an Advisor to join our Stress Testing team within the Financial System Assessment group. Our small team are responsible for delivering the Reserve Bank's Industry-wide stress testing programme, and the review and approval of the banks' IRB credit risk models. Both functions contribute to the overall financial stability of the New Zealand economy. We work widely across the organisation, with industry, and with other regulators.

O pukenga - About you

We're looking for a collaborative team member, who can communicate well and work to deadlines effectively. To be successful in this role you will have:

  • At least five years of relevant professional experience in a bank, financial institution, central bank, economics research, or regulatory authority.
  • Ideally a strong understanding of the Basel or New Zealand standard governing the IRB approach, credit risk modelling, or capital adequacy.
  • Ideally extensive experience in IRB modelling, credit risk modelling, statistical methodologies, or quantitative analysis.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail for addressing complex modelling and regulatory issues.
  • Experience coaching other team members or managing individuals.
  • An effective collaborative approach that draws on the knowledge and skills of colleagues and other stakeholders and constructively contributes to the work of others.
  • The ability to communicate complex modelling issues into clear insights and recommendations for a wide range of audience, including the senior leadership.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage senior external stakeholder relationships, and robust challenges on modelling or regulatory issues.
