About The Role

Are you an experienced Financial Accountant who enjoys owning the month-end process and delivering high-quality financial reporting? Do you take pride in getting the detail right while also looking for ways to improve processes and strengthen controls?

We’re looking for a Financial Accountant to join our Finance team at AA Insurance. In this role, you’ll play a key part in delivering accurate, timely reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, and supporting tax and statutory requirements.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll take ownership of core accounting activities while also contributing to continuous improvement across systems, processes and reporting. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the business, helping ensure financial information is both reliable and meaningful.

Success in this role comes from experience, accountability and a proactive mindset. You’ll be someone who can hit the ground running, bring structure to your work, and confidently manage competing priorities.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Delivering accurate and timely month-end journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Supporting the preparation of monthly financial results for the business.
  • Preparing and filing tax returns including GST, FBT, income tax and unclaimed money.
  • Preparing and filing statistical and regulatory returns.
  • Assisting with the preparation of statutory financial statements and year-end audit deliverables.
  • Maintaining asset and lease registers.
  • Supporting the accuracy and integrity of financial data across the business.
  • Contributing to process improvements and strengthening financial controls.
  • Supporting ad hoc projects and Finance initiatives as required.

What You’ll Bring With You

  • Around 4+ years’ experience in an accounting role (corporate or professional services).
  • A relevant tertiary qualification, with progress towards (or completion of) CA/CPA preferred.
  • Strong experience with reconciliations, tax returns and financial reporting/audit processes.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
  • High attention to detail and a structured, organised approach to your work.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders across the business.
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • The ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
