General Manager
The HR Hub NZ
Imagine a hospital where compassion meets innovation, where healthcare is not just a service but a shared responsibility of the community. We have turned this vision into reality, and we seek a driven General Manager to continue this transformative journey.
This is more than just a job; it's an opportunity to be a part of something greater. Become a changemaker, a guardian of health and hope for the community.
The Role
As the General Manager, you will be the custodian of our hospital and play a pivotal role in shaping the image and the quality of services provided by the Southern Charity Hospital. Reporting to the Board of Trustees, you’ll be well supported to provide strategic leadership and direction to a team of skilled and enthusiastic volunteers, while working closely with our Clinical Nurse Manager.
Responsible for ensuring funding streams, you will have the unique opportunity to represent the hospital to our stakeholders, engage with our community, and lead a collaborative and committed team of healthcare professionals. In addition, you’ll:
- Implement a robust and achievable strategic plan.
- Oversee the application for grants and proactively explore additional opportunities for funding.
- Establish operating budgets and evaluate costs to ensure the best use of donated funds.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key partners and create a valuable profile of the Southern Charity Hospital with effective public relations.
- Ensure all services meet legislative requirements and high standards of patient care.
- Seek opportunities to introduce new initiatives that will improve outcomes for patients in the Southern community.
About You
Your proven leadership and stakeholder management will be critical to the success of this pioneering venture. You will have the passion and drive to deliver on Blair Vining’s mission of better cancer care for all New Zealander’s. You will also be able to demonstrate:
- Senior leadership or management experience, preferably of volunteer teams.
- Significant experience in managing finances and budgets, ideally within the not-for-profit sector.
- Experience in strategic planning implementation, and delivery.
- Excellent planning and organisation skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience in public relations.
- Proven ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders.
The Southern Charity Hospital Trust was established in 2019 following Blair Vining’s highly publicised battle with terminal bowel cancer. To people throughout Aotearoa, Blair was an extraordinary man: a man who turned his own tragedy into a battle to ensure better cancer care for his community.
One of his greatest legacies has become a reality, providing free services to those in the southern half of New Zealand (Southland and Otago) who are unable to access care through the public or private health systems.
We are
- Community-Driven: We are not just a hospital; we are a community of caregivers, working together to uplift the health of our neighbours.
- Innovation: Our hospital is equipped with the latest technology and practices, ensuring that our healthcare delivery is always at the forefront of progress.
- Free Healthcare: Join us in our mission to provide free healthcare to those who can't access it through public or private systems, making a tangible difference in people's lives.
