We're looking for a Survey Technician to join our Survey team in Cromwell. You'll carry out construction surveying, setting out and as‑built work, and provide accurate spatial data to support project delivery, helping our teams work safely, meet specification, and deliver quality outcomes on site.
Mō te tūranga | About the role
As a Survey Technician, this is a hands‑on, intermediate‑level role within our Survey team based in Cromwell. You'll work across multiple construction sites, carrying out field‑based surveying alongside office‑based calculations and plan preparation.
Your work will include setting out, design checks, and producing accurate as‑built data that projects rely on. By providing precise spatial information, you directly support safe operations, quality construction, and jobs being delivered on time and to specification.
Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities
- Deliver surveying tasks including setting out, design checks, verification and as‑built data.
- Calculate quantities, volumes and spatial data to support accurate project delivery and reporting.
- Operate and maintain surveying equipment and assist with calibration of machine control systems.
- Prepare topographical surveys, plans and moderately complex design modifications using surveying software.
- Support site teams by ensuring surveying work is completed accurately, safely, and to specification across multiple sites.

- Relevant qualification or industry experience, such as BE, BSurv, NZCE, or a Diploma in engineering, surveying, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of relevant surveying or construction experience, ideally in a site‑based environment.
- Hands‑on experience with surveying equipment, such as Trimble or Leica systems.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D for plan preparation and spatial data processing.
- Strong commitment to health, safety, environment, and quality, with relevant safety certification.
- Current full Class 1 driver licence, enabling travel across multiple sites.
- High attention to detail and ethical conduct, with the ability to deliver accurate work under changing site conditions.
