About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi
The Principal Advisor provides strategic advice and executive support to the Chief Clinical Officer, working collaboratively with senior leaders across ACC. The role supports effective day‑to‑day operations, integrates organisational priorities, and ensures alignment with government direction and ACC's strategic objectives to deliver better outcomes for New Zealanders.
The role also supports the Chief Clinical Officer's clinical governance responsibilities by contributing to advice that strengthens quality, safety, evidence‑based decision making, and system stewardship across ACC.
We're seeking a dedicated Principal Advisor to join our dynamic team. You'll play a pivotal role in analysing complex issues, providing high‑quality advice, supporting delivery of business priorities, and engaging with senior internal and external stakeholders, contributing to keeping Kiwis safe at work, at home, and everywhere in between.
The appointing salary for this role is $117,787 - $152,430 (based on experience) and we offer an additional 9% superannuation contribution. ACC offers a comprehensive benefits package which at present includes an advantageous superannuation scheme with features like 0% employee contribution, optional life and income protection insurance, and flexibility to change to a locked plan at any time.

You will bring:
- Extensive experience providing senior‑level strategic, policy or system advice
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to navigate complex and ambiguous issues
- Experience working with executive leaders in large, complex or public sector organisations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence and adaptability in using AI‑enabled tools and digital technologies to support research, analysis, and advice, with a strong understanding of responsible and ethical use
- A clinical background or demonstrated experience in clinical governance environments would be advantageous
- A commitment to inclusive leadership and continuous improvement
- You must hold New Zealand work rights at the time of application
- Proven ability to influence, build trust, and work collaboratively at senior levels
