Taitara Mahi - Sports Liaison Officer

Permanent Part-Time - 20 hours per week

Hastings has nationally recognised parks and recreation facilities and a team that strives to provide quality public spaces for the community. We’re looking for a Sports Liaison Officer to join our Public Spaces Team within the Community Facilities & Services Group.

In this part-time role, you’ll help support the smooth and effective use of Council’s sportsgrounds and related facilities for sporting activity. You’ll work closely with sport codes, clubs, schools, contractors and internal teams to coordinate bookings, assist with event and activity requirements, support service agreements and permits, and help ensure our sportsfields continue to meet the needs of the community.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, has an interest in sport and recreation, and can confidently balance customer service, coordination and practical problem-solving.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Bring experience and/or qualifications in sport, recreation, event coordination or a related field
  • Have strong relationship management skills and confidence working with clubs, schools, sporting codes and community stakeholders
  • Be organised and comfortable coordinating bookings, activities and competing priorities
  • Have sound administrative and computer skills, including confidence using booking systems, spreadsheets and databases
  • Understand health and safety requirements and be able to support users to meet operational and event-related obligations
  • Ideally bring knowledge of sportsground operations, turf/facilities coordination, or local government processes
  • Hold a full driver licence
