At Skills Group, we’re on a mission to build talent and prepare a future-fit workforce. We’re looking for a passionate Learning Support Manager to lead and inspire a team of tutors across our electrical and plumbing programmes.

About The Role

In this role, you’ll shape the educational experience and career readiness of our students. You’ll drive high-quality curriculum delivery, support tutor development, and create a positive, high-performing learning environment across campus.

Please note that this role is currently based in Wellington, with a planned site move to Lower Hutt in early 2027. We are looking for candidates comfortable with this future transition.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead, coach, and develop tutors to deliver engaging, industry-aligned training
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide targeted feedback to improve teaching practice
  • Support lesson planning, assessment delivery, and instructional consistency
  • Monitor student progress, identify at-risk learners, and implement strategies to improve outcomes (including literacy & numeracy support)
  • Manage tutor recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing performance development
  • Ensure programmes meet curriculum, regulatory, and industry standards while collaborating with internal teams to continuously improve delivery and stepping in to teach when required

Desired Skills And Experience

What you’ll bring

  • Electrical registration with a current practising licence
  • Adult Learning & Teaching certification (or willingness to work towards this as art of professional development)
  • 5-10 years’ experience in vocational education or trades training
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and motivate tutors
  • Strong understanding of curriculum delivery, assessment, and industry standards
  • Experience using data to improve student outcomes
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and organisational skills
  • Ability to build a positive, inclusive learning culture
