Senior Developer (Python / AWS / Hardware Integration) | Up Too 160K | Tauranga

Pearson Carter are currently working with a deep-tech startup based in Tauranga building advanced field instruments and intelligence platforms. Their technology integrates real-time sensing, analytics, and cloud systems to improve safety and efficiency in complex industrial environments.

They are now hiring a Senior Developer to take ownership of their core software platform from MVP through to pilot-ready product.

They offer a flexible contract arrangement with strong potential to move into a permanent role for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable Python applications (field + cloud)
• Integrate hardware via USB/serial (sensors, instruments, IoT devices)
• Build AWS cloud infrastructure (Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, S3)
• Develop offline-first systems with reliable sync
• Troubleshoot full-stack + hardware integration issues
• Work closely with founders on architecture and product direction

Experience

• Strong Python development experience with AWS deployment
• Hardware integration experience (sensors, IoT, devices, or similar)
• Strong software architecture and system design skills
• Database and data modelling experience
• Comfortable working in a startup environment

Salary

Up to $800/day contract or $140,000–$160,000 permanent equivalent (flexible for the right person)

Location

Tauranga, New Zealand (Hybrid – flexible remote working)
