Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu

Christchurch (Ōtautahi) – Head Office (Show Place)

Make your numbers matter. Shape retail performance across iconic visitor experiences.

Ngāi Tahu Tourism welcomes manuhiri from around the world and reinvests success back into future generations. Behind every great experience is smart, intentional stock planning — and that’s where you come in.

This is a rare opportunity to apply your commercial and analytical strengths in a purpose‑led organisation, where your work directly supports sustainable growth and long‑term outcomes.

The opportunity

As Merchandise Planner - Multi Site Attractions, you’ll take ownership of inventory planning across all retail locations, ensuring the right product is in the right place at the right time.

You’ll turn sales and stock data into clear, actionable plans that improve availability, optimise stock investment and lift gross profit — while supporting consistent execution across multiple sites.

Predominantly based at our Christchurch head office (Show Place), the role also includes some travel to stay connected with operations on the ground.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Planning and coordinating inventory to achieve optimal stock levels across all retail sites
  • Forecasting demand and managing replenishment to minimise stockouts and obsolescence
  • Working closely with suppliers on ordering, deliveries and credits
  • Analysing sales, margin and stock performance to inform range and pricing decisions
  • Supporting merchandise standards, planograms and promotional execution
  • Reporting on key retail KPIs and maintaining high inventory data integrity
  • Partnering with operational teams to resolve stock issues and improve processes

About You

You’re commercially sharp, detail‑driven and proactive. You enjoy working with data, but you also understand the operational reality behind the numbers.

You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience in retail inventory planning, merchandising or stock management
  • Confidence managing full stock lifecycles from forecast through to sell‑through
  • Strong analytical capability and advanced Excel skills
  • Experience supporting multiple locations or complex retail environments
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative working style
  • Openness to learning about Ngāi Tahu values, tikanga and te reo Māori

You don’t need to be an expert — just respectful, curious and willing to grow in a bicultural environment.
