Camera Operator

Capture the stories that matter. As a Camera Operator, you'll shoot, edit and help produce compelling content across all TVNZ platforms in Wellington.

The opportunity - Te tūranga

· Record best possible quality pictures through proper composition, lighting, and effective sound recording.

· Shoot using high end ENG, Production cameras and prime lenses.

· Shoot using mobile phone, other small cameras.

· Ensure job environment is safe and equipment is kept in good working order.

· Record and send content to News Traffic Centre for speedy publication to Digital platforms as required.

· Be able to quickly edit content to a high craft level.

· Operate transmission technology, including knowledge of Live operating procedures.

· This includes being able to:

· Assist with the set up and operations of Live Facilities and links.

· Feed pictures / Live interviews using Live U or similar.

· Operate in a Single or Multi Camera Live Environment.

· Live interviews from remote locations.

In this role, you will be covering such a variety of stories from parliament, sports, local Wellington region.

To be successful in this role, you will have

· Working knowledge of a wide range of broadcast technical equipment.

· Solid working knowledge of TV production.

· Strong filming and editing skills.

· Experience working in the field.

· Must be able to articulate ideas and concepts.

· Ability to understand and accurately work to a specific brief.

· Ability to generate innovative ideas for News and Content coverage.

· Strong News judgement, thorough knowledge of world affairs and current events, geopolitics, foreign policy and history.

· Excellent communication skills and professional conduct, especially in high pressure and stressful situations.

· A thorough understanding of the role of social media in newsgathering and output.

· Time management and organisational skills.

· Physically and mentally fit and agile.

· Ability to concentrate for long periods of time, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

· Capability to multi-task and work in a fast paced and demanding News and Content environment.

· Full and clean drivers license
