Live Work Supervisor - Transmission

About The Role: We’re on the lookout for a Transmission Live Work Supervisor to join our transmission team at Northpower. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a leadership role where you’ll supervise, coordinate, and direct our field resources and equipment to deliver successful project outcomes. From planning through to execution, you’ll play a key part in ensuring Live Work is delivered safely and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Project Managers and Design Estimators with estimating, pre-work scoping, and the development and review of work methodologies
- Participate in job handover and closeout meetings to ensure smooth project transitions
- Lead job pre-planning and deliver clear job briefs, ensuring all work is thoroughly planned, with risks, contingencies, safety, environmental, and other influencing factors identified
- Review job requirements including materials, plant, contractors, and labour availability in line with scope and scheduling
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress against timelines, ensure compliance with scope, and maintain high standards of workmanship and completeness
- Ensure all field documentation is accurately completed and submitted on time
- Contribute to job reviews, capturing lessons learned and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
- Ensure accurate capture of customer GIS and as-built data
- Verify all required testing is completed in accordance with standards and specifications
- Prepare and submit all reports accurately and within required timeframes

About You
We’re looking for someone who thrives in a leadership role, with strong communication and organisational skills. You’ll be safety-driven, solutions-focused, and able to work closely with teams, clients, and stakeholders to get the job done.
You’ll bring with you:
- New Zealand Certificate in Electrical Trade (Electricity Supply) – Level 4, or New Zealand Certificate of Electrical Engineering Level 5 or equivalent
- Current EWRB practising licence
- Knowledge of relevant Codes of Practice, Policies, Standards, Work Procedures, Legislative requirements and the relevant Parts of the Safety Manual – Electricity Industry (SE-MI)
- Experience supervising or leading teams in a Transmission Lines environment
- Strong focus on health, safety, and quality standards
- Proven ability to coordinate people, resources, and equipment
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A practical, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving abilities
