HSQE Advisor
United Civil Construction

Do you want to be part of a team that makes a real difference?
We’re looking for an HSQE Advisor who brings more than compliance – someone who partners with teams to create smarter, safer, and better ways of working. You’ll need to be credible onsite, influential in the boardroom, and focused on practical outcomes that make a difference.
What you’ll be doing:
- Working shoulder-to-shoulder with delivery teams to solve problems, lift standards and embed critical risk thinking into day-to-day operations
- Partnering with leaders and clients to turn HSQE goals into innovative, value-adding solutions
- Supporting a culture of ownership and continuous improvement – not just ticking boxes
- Leading incident reviews and improvement initiatives that drive learning and system change
- Using insights, data and your sharp judgment to influence smarter decisions at all levels
- Supporting audit, system, and certification processes without getting bogged down in bureaucracy
What you bring:
- Experience in an HSQE advisory role in civil, construction or infrastructure sectors
- A practical mindset and strong problem-solving instincts – you focus on how, not just what
- Confidence engaging across the full spectrum – from frontline crews to boardroom conversations
- Experience in investigative report writing, e.g. ICAM (or similar methodologies)
- A collaborative, partnering approach – you build trust and get buy-in
- Familiarity with New Zealand H&S legislation, ISO systems, and industry best practice
- A genuine interest in doing things better – through people, process and innovation
- Strong leadership skills – able to influence, coach and support others to lift performance
- Formal qualifications in civil infrastructure, health and safety, quality, or environmental management are an advantage
Why work with us?
We’re a progressive, values-driven business delivering civil projects that matter. We back our people to think differently, own their impact, and challenge the status quo. In this role, you’ll be a trusted advisor – not just a safety cop – helping us raise the bar across health, safety, quality, and environmental performance.
Sound like you? Then please apply now.
