Steelworks NZ Ltd is a family-owned structural steel business based in Tauriko, Tauranga specialising in projects from commercial & industrial to earthquake strengthening and residential projects across the Bay of Plenty. We have one experienced Industrial Spray-painter vacancy available to join our fabrication workshop. This is a full-time positions working a guaranteed minimum of 40 hours per week, with wage rates are between $30-40 per hour (experience dependent with a minimum of two years).

  • Hours: Full-time, 40+ hours per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Application of coatings using various techniques, including brush & roller, airless sprayer, and conventional spray.
  • Painting to specification, including measuring and verifying DFT (Dry Film Thickness) and ensuring coatings meet required standards.
  • Working in structural steel industrial environments, with occasional on-site work.
  • Prepare surfaces for coatings, painting, or further finishing as required.
  • Inspect and assess the quality of finished surfaces.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet project deadlines.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Experience in industrial spray-painting (essential) 2 years minimum.
  • Strong understanding of painting specifications and ability to use tools like a DFT gauge.
  • Knowledge of various painting techniques and application methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and work instructions.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow safety protocols.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen.
