The Assistant Accountant supports our New Zealand business (NZ Distributor) to achieve our targets and pursue our Leading Goals.

Working with the local and global Finance teams to perform operational and transactional requirements in an efficient, accurate and timely manner.

That’s the role, so who are you?

You will have experience in taking ownership of key aspects of month-end accounting.

Your Role

As the Assistant Accountant, you will support the financial and management accounting function of the NZ Distributor unit. You will be responsible for end-to-end tasks including month-end close, pricing and rebate management, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany, and CAPEX management.

You will work closely with both finance and commercial stakeholders, ensuring timely, accurate, and insightful reporting to support key decision-making and compliance with group financial policies.

This role provides a great opportunity to grow your technical expertise across a range of financial processes and develop as a valued business partner in a collaborative and high-performing finance team.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Managing rebates, and commercial claim approvals in partnership with the Sales team
  • Maintaining the Global Price Management (Salesforce) tool and presenting key insights in monthly sales meetings
  • Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations across key accounts
  • Overseeing CAPEX and maintaining the Fixed Asset Register in alignment with project timelines
  • Managing intercompany transactions and ensuring alignment with global processes
  • Continuously improving financial controls, process documentation, and internal training
  • Rotating across accounting tasks to build broad capability and cross-functional coverage within the team


Financial and Management Accounting and Reporting

  • Support the accuracy and integrity of financial processes and reporting of financial statements.
  • As required, maintain specific controls through GL reconciliations (such as inventory, warranty, rebates, marketing, revaluations, provisions) and reports substantiating the ledger balances
  • Support the finance team to prepare the monthly and annual (audited) accounts of the business unit, including supporting the preparation of business reports and presentations as required.
  • Ensure compliance with Group financial policies and proactively recommend process improvements


You’ll demonstrate

Strong written and verbal communication skills, an ability to grasp and understand complex business issues and translate to non-financial personnel, a customer facing aptitude (including internal stakeholders), an ability to time manage competing demands.

You’ll be self-motivated and display initiative, a true ‘self-starter’, proactive and solutions focused. Importantly you will work collaboratively to deliver a successful outcome for the business
