About the role

This is the perfect role for someone early in their software development career who’s looking to learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully to real-world products. You’ll work alongside experienced developers and receive guidance and mentoring as you build your confidence across the software development lifecycle.

You’ll help bring features to life in both web and mobile applications, learn to write clean, maintainable code, and gain hands-on experience with modern tools and frameworks.

This is a full-time, permanent position, based in our office in Palmerston North.

Day to day in the role, you will:

• Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of web and mobile applications.
• Work across the full stack involving a high performance Laravel (PHP) API, a Flutter web and mobile app, and a data ingestion process using Node.js.
• Work with UI/UX designs to implement front-end components.
• Participate in team stand-ups, sprint planning, and code reviews.
• Test, debug, and fix software issues with support from the wider team.
• Learn about cloud services (like AWS) and how we use them to power our products.
• Collaborate with designers, engineers to solve real customer problems. You’ll get to know our customers and work alongside our customer support team.

You will have:

• A passion for technology and software engineering with projects you can showcase - ideally pet/personal projects.
• A basic understanding of software development concepts like object-oriented programming, data structures, and APIs.
• Eagerness to learn, take on feedback, and improve your skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• A genuine interest in building quality software that makes a real impact.
