What you’ll do | Hei mahi

The purpose of the wiqNZ team is to unlock the power of data to imagine retail, which contributes to making Kiwis’ lives a little better every day.


As a key member of the wiqNZ team, you will work closely with the WWNZ Commercial leadership team, as well as the Next Gen Retail Operations Lead. You should have an eagerness to use and continuously develop your Excel, SQL and Python skills to deliver high-impact analytical solutions and diagnose and resolve complex data issues in a timely manner. 


Specifically, the role will see you doing:

  • Maintain and enhance business-facing toolkits (Excel, SQL, Python), including updates and issue resolution.
  • Support data pipeline refreshes and implement continuous improvements for optimal tool performance.
  • Ensure high-quality technical work adhering to data standards for robust analytical solutions.
  • Debug and resolve tooling issues, prioritizing solutions and ensuring thorough testing.
  • Monitor tool inboxes, respond to queries, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with analytics teams and stakeholders on priorities, operations, and enhancement pipelines.

We're seeking a technical and commercially-minded Analyst to help support the progress of our Next Gen tools as they become an ongoing and highly valuable feature of our commercial operations.


You'll harness your strong Excel, SQL and Python expertise to empower a squad of technical analysts to deliver high-impact analytical solutions.


To be successful in this position, you will have:

  • Strong Excel skills including functions and data visualization; Google Sheets experience is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in writing and understanding SQL queries with basic database knowledge.
  • Familiarity with Python basics and data manipulation fundamentals.
  • Experience in analytics work with developing commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Exposure to advanced tools such as Excel VBA, complex SQL, Python libraries (Pandas), Git, DBT, or cloud platforms is desired.
  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant disciplines like Statistics, Data Science, or Computer Science are preferred.
