Job Description

The Director of Temporal Affairs (DTA) is seeking to appoint a highly capable Area Planning Manager (APM) to join the Area Management team at the Pacific Area Office in Takapuna. This permanent full-time position is a key leadership role that provides strategic support to the Area Presidency and the DTA.

As a senior-level independent contributor, the APM leads complex strategic projects and collaborates across both temporal and ecclesiastical departments. Reporting to the DTA, this role involves data-driven analysis to guide area-wide priorities, support the Area Review, coordinate the Area Functional Plan, and identify opportunities to enhance operational performance. The APM also manages the design and implementation of strategic initiatives and may assist with temporal affairs operations as assigned.

Responsibilities

General Responsibilities: Maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of work; Prepare and review presentations for General Authorities and Church committees; Lead and support strategic projects as assigned by the DTA and Area Presidency; Build strong cross-functional relationships and resolve complex operational issues.

Strategic Planning & Analysis: Support the Area Presidency in identifying and prioritizing area-wide initiatives; Support and collaborate with the Correlation Manager and the Correlation Research Division (CRD) as needed; Provide high-level analysis and well-justified recommendations on sensitive issues; Deliver timely, accurate information to support decision-making by leadership and councils; Critically review annual plans and projects to ensure alignment with Church policies and strategic direction.

Area Functional Plan (AFP) Development: Coordinate the development of the Area Functional Plan in collaboration with departments; Provide strategic feedback to ensure the AFP aligns with Area priorities; Support the implementation and tracking of the AFP across the Area, including consultation and follow-up.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of professional experience, or Master’s degree with 6+ years
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills
  • Proactive self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment
  • Experience presenting to executive-level audiences
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and diplomacy when working with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across departments and teams.
  • Familiarity with Presiding Bishopric department operations (e.g., Facilities, Finance, Welfare, Support Services)
  • Experience in a strategy consulting firm or internal strategy team
  • Proficiency in analytical tools such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Experience working with local priesthood leaders or other senior Church leadership
