As the Cyber Operations Governance Specialist, you play a key role in second-line cyber security governance, ensuring that first-line cyber risk management is effective, transparent, and accurately reported to senior leadership and the Board Risk Committee.

As the Cyber Operations Governance Specialist, you play a key role in second-line cyber security governance, ensuring that first-line cyber risk management is effective, transparent, and accurately reported to senior leadership and the Board Risk Committee.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor cyber threats, trends, and controls to inform governance practices.
- Provide expert advice on cyber maturity and controls to various internal teams.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships to support risk governance.
- Assess control effectiveness and help identify gaps or unmanaged risks.
- Deliver cyber governance reports to senior leadership and the Board.
- Use AI and automation to improve team efficiency.
- Continuously enhance governance frameworks to meet regulatory and industry standards.
Ōu Pūkenga | About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have the following experience and skills:
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity risk management and controls, including cloud technologies.
- Experience in the financial services industry (preferred).
- Proven ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
- Familiarity with frameworks such as NIST CSF, NIST SP 800-53, ISO27001/2, ISO31000, COBIT.
- Understanding of regulatory standards including APRA Prudential Standards, Australian Privacy Act, PCI-DSS.
- Experience with GRC tools (e.g., ServiceNow GRC).
- Tertiary qualifications in technology or commercial disciplines (highly regarded).
- Professional certifications such as CRISC, CISM, CGEIT (highly regarded).
