Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

As the Cyber Operations Governance Specialist, you play a key role in second-line cyber security governance, ensuring that first-line cyber risk management is effective, transparent, and accurately reported to senior leadership and the Board Risk Committee.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor cyber threats, trends, and controls to inform governance practices.
  • Provide expert advice on cyber maturity and controls to various internal teams.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships to support risk governance.
  • Assess control effectiveness and help identify gaps or unmanaged risks.
  • Deliver cyber governance reports to senior leadership and the Board.
  • Use AI and automation to improve team efficiency.
  • Continuously enhance governance frameworks to meet regulatory and industry standards.

This is a permanent role, offers a flexible hybrid work model. We welcome applicants from Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington), Ōtautahi (Christchurch) and Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland).

Ōu Pūkenga | About You

To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have the following experience and skills: 

  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity risk management and controls, including cloud technologies.
  • Experience in the financial services industry (preferred).
  • Proven ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as NIST CSF, NIST SP 800-53, ISO27001/2, ISO31000, COBIT.
  • Understanding of regulatory standards including APRA Prudential Standards, Australian Privacy Act, PCI-DSS.
  • Experience with GRC tools (e.g., ServiceNow GRC).
  • Tertiary qualifications in technology or commercial disciplines (highly regarded).
  • Professional certifications such as CRISC, CISM, CGEIT (highly regarded).
