CAFE WORKER

About us

We are looking for all-rounder hospitality cafe workers (2 positions) for our cafe located in Palmerston North, Manawatū-Whanganui region. With a guarantee of minimum of 30 hours per week with pay rates between $24 and $26 p/h depending on your skills. You will be working as per the roster hence flexibility is essential in this role.

Tasks & responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food and beverages to customers for on-site consumption, ensuring quality presentation and adherence to hygiene standards
• Take customer orders in a friendly and efficient manner, offering menu suggestions and answering any product-related queries
• Operate the point-of-sale system, process payments accurately, and issue sales receipts or invoices as required
• Clear tables promptly once customers have finished dining, ensuring the café area remains tidy and welcoming
• Reset and prepare tables for new customers, maintaining a clean and organised dining space
• Wash and sanitise dishes, cutlery, kitchen utensils, and cookware, ensuring compliance with food safety practices
• Clean and maintain café equipment including coffee machines, grinders, and other appliances
• Assist with stocktakes, restocking shelves, and storing new stock deliveries in designated areas
• Support other team members as needed, contributing to a collaborative and smooth-running café environment

Qualifications & experience

• Previous experience as a cafe worker or an all-rounder is preferred but not essential
• Attention to detail
• Have good time management skills
• Ability to lift and carry medium to heavy objects
• Confidence to work independently
• Excellent communication skills
