Based in Hamilton, New Zealand, you will take full ownership of the strategy, vision, and commercial success of Animal Fencing – blending your strategic mindset, curiosity, and commercial acumen to deliver measurable results and shape the future of the category.

A Unique and Strategic Leadership Role

This is a pivotal leadership role with scope across the following key areas:

• Global Strategy and Vision
  Lead the development and execution of the long-term strategy for Gallagher’s fencing solutions, with a sharp focus on solving meaningful customer problems and driving measurable outcomes.

• Customer Discovery and Insight Engine
  Champion a culture of deep customer understanding by engaging directly with farmers, listening deeply, observing behaviours, and surfacing unmet needs. Build a structured insight engine that combines research, behavioural data, and market signals to uncover pain points and latent opportunities.

• Product Portfolio Ownership and Commercial Accountability
  Take ownership of the P&L, category strategy, and product roadmap. Govern the portfolio through outcome-based prioritisation and quarterly planning to ensure focus on the highest-value initiatives.

• Innovation Across the System
  Translate insights into differentiated solutions that blend physical products, services, digital tools, and business models. Apply the full spectrum of innovation to create value competitors can’t easily replicate.

• Cross-Functional Leadership and Collaboration
  Lead and inspire a high-performing team spanning the entire value stream - product management, engineering, design, marketing, and regional market execution. Align teams behind shared goals and drive delivery from strategy through to market impact.

• Commercial and Market Influence
  Stay engaged with the global market to inform strategy, pricing, and positioning. Use insight and foresight to guide growth and keep Gallagher’s fencing solutions at the forefront of the industry.

You are a strategic product leader who looks beyond features to solve meaningful problems. With deep customer curiosity and a sharp commercial mindset, you excel at rallying teams around outcomes that matter. You bring:

• A proven track record of leading product, category, or value stream strategies that deliver clear commercial and customer impact.

• A genuine commitment to understanding customers at a deep level - comfortable engaging in the field and fluent in both qualitative and quantitative insights to uncover what truly matters to farmers.

• Experience embedding discovery practices that foster problem exploration, test assumptions, and validate opportunities before scaling solutions.

• The mindset and capability to innovate across the entire system - from product and service models to channels, pricing, experience, and ecosystem strategies.

• A practical and disciplined approach to product leadership, grounded in commercial accountability, insight-driven prioritisation, and outcome-focused planning.

• Exceptional collaboration and cross-functional leadership skills, ideally within hardware/software, agriculture, or innovation-driven environments.

• Willingness to travel internally and internationally and engage regularly in real-world environments to stay close to the customer.
