Work Location: Auckland Region
Employment type: Full time (minimum 30 hours/per week, roster from Monday to Saturday), Permanent role
Our pay: $27.00-$28.00 per hour depending on skills and experience
We are a construction company based in Auckland
We are now looking for drywall worker to join our supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity for the right people and will allow access into a reputable and experienced company.
Tasks you may carry out:
- Reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications to determine installation requirements to determine plasterboard layout
- Helping senior plasterboard workers with their work whenever necessary
- Installing insulation and vapour barriers materials behind GIB boards as required
- Mesuring, cutting, and fixing plasterboard, lifting and positioning plasterboard to fit specific areas using hand and power tools
- Securing them to walls, ceilings and battens using screws or adhesive (including GIB boards fixing and stopping)
- Preparing corner beads and securing them in position
- Applying tape and jointing compound to cover joints between GIB boards
- Fixing plaster and paper cornices, panel mouldings, ceiling centres and other plaster fittings
- Covering joints and screw fixings with wet plaster and sealing compounds, and smoothing them using wet brushes and sandpaper
- Mixing and applying coats of plaster, cement and render to structures using towels, and levelling and smoothing coasts to uniform thickness
- Plumbing and straightening corners, angles, and wall and ceiling surfaces
- Creating decorative textures in finishing coats
- Applying and finishing acoustic, insulating, and fireproofing materials
- Working with other tradespeople to ensure that plasterboard installation and stopping are coordinated with other construction activities
- Following health and safety regulations and procedures to ensure a safe work environment
- Other relevant job duties notified by the employer
To be successful you will need to:
- Ideal candidates should have at least 2 years' relevant work experience in the same field or industry,
- OR have a relevant level 4 qualification or above( equivalent overseas qualification can be accepted)
- Be a great team player, be able to follow instructions
- Be physically fit and willingness to work hard
- Good eye for details and an ability to solve problems practically and effectively
- have "can-do" attitude
