We are seeking 3 detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeepers to join our team in Christchurch. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and evaluating records of financial transactions using account books and computerised accounting systems. You will play a critical role in ensuring our financial data is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record and reconcile financial transactions in accounting software.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable.
  • Prepare and process payroll, GST returns, and other tax filings.
  • Monitor cash flow and produce regular financial reports.
  • Maintain general ledgers and assist with budget preparation.
  • Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and regulatory bodies as required.
  • Ensure compliance with New Zealand financial regulations and internal policies.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Demonstrate two or more years of relevant Verifiable work experience, supported by documentation not written by the applicant (e.g. references, contracts, payslips, or letters from previous employers, tax recoreds, bank statement).

OR

  • Hold a relevant qualification at Level 4 or higher on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF)

Skills and Attributes

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Xero, MYOB, or similar).
  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
  • Good understanding of New Zealand tax and payroll systems.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
