Te Tūranga i The Role

We’re looking for a detail-driven Payroll Officer to join our People team and support the seamless delivery of end-to-end payroll across both employee and contractor pay cycles. Working closely with our Payroll Lead, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our people are paid accurately and on time, while contributing to process improvement and team projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a hands-on, fast-paced role where no two weeks look the same.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Processing end-to-end payroll for employees and supporting contractor/freelancer payruns, including invoice processing and quality assurance.
  • Maintaining accurate payroll data and records, ensuring compliance with NZ tax, KiwiSaver, and employment legislation.
  • Managing payroll-related queries via a shared inbox and providing timely, accurate support to internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting payroll reporting, month-end processes, and year-end activities such as IR filings and leave reconciliations.
  • Identifying and contributing to payroll process improvements, system efficiencies, and automation opportunities.

Whether you’ve come from an accounts payable background with exposure to contractor payments or have a couple of solid years in end-to-end payroll, you're ready to step into a role where you can own your space, learn, and grow. This is a great opportunity to join a fast-paced and dynamic industry, where your reliability and structure will be highly valued.

Essential

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in end-to-end payroll processing or a similar function (e.g. Accounts Payable with contractor invoicing).
  • A strong understanding of NZ tax, employment, and payroll legislation.
  • Confident working across multiple systems – experience with KeyPay and MS Excel (intermediate level) is ideal.
  • High attention to detail, with excellent record keeping and documentation habits.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively in a structured, reliable way.

Preferred

  • Experience processing both employee payroll and contractor payments.
  • Previous exposure to systems such as PayGlobal or Pegasus.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with internal teams.
  • Willingness to share knowledge, support others, and continuously look for ways to improve how things are done.
