Join Northpower as our Fleet and Equipment Manager and take the lead in managing the vehicles, plant, and equipment that power our operations across New Zealand.
About the role:
As Fleet and Equipment Manager, you’ll oversee the full lifecycle of Northpower’s fleet, from acquisition to maintenance and compliance. You’ll manage supplier relationships, monitor asset utilisation, and lead a team that ensures all vehicles and equipment are safe, reliable, and aligned with operational needs. You’ll also have oversight of our Test Team, supporting the delivery of electrical and safety equipment testing services.
Northpower is an electricity and fibre network provider for Whangārei and Kaipara, with more than 60,000 connected customers.
We are one of the largest multi-utility contractors in New Zealand, servicing the needs of clients in transmission, distribution, generation, fibre, renewables, and commercial sectors. About the role:
As Fleet and Equipment Manager, you’ll oversee the full lifecycle of Northpower’s fleet, from acquisition to maintenance and compliance. You’ll manage supplier relationships, monitor asset utilisation, and lead a team that ensures all vehicles and equipment are safe, reliable, and aligned with operational needs. You’ll also have oversight of our Test Team, supporting the delivery of electrical and safety equipment testing services.
- Managing the delivery, maintenance, and compliance of all Northpower fleet assets
- Liaising with suppliers, service providers, and internal teams to ensure operational continuity
- Overseeing vehicle testing, certification, and asset compliance data
- Reducing downtime and ensuring high utilisation across all fleet assets
- Leading and supporting team members and fostering continuous improvement
- Experience in fleet, transport, or equipment management
- Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Engineering, Operations, or related field
- Strong technical knowledge of fleet operations, maintenance, and lifecycle management
- Proven vendor management and budgeting skills
- Leadership capability with a focus on performance and safety
- Proficiency with fleet management systems and compliance reporting
