The Opportunity
- We are looking for an experienced tax specialist at Manager or Senior Manager to join our team and have the option to work from either our Tauranga or Hamilton office
- The role is primarily available in our Tauranga office, with potential consideration for candidates interested in working from our Hamilton office
- The focus will be undertaking tax engagements for clients and providing them with high quality specialist tax advice and services
- This opportunity will allow you to join a well-established and supportive team of experts who are committed to the highest standards of technical expertise and have a passion for understanding their clients needs
- Apply an understanding of legislation, the interpretation of case law and be up to date with the status of Inland Revenue rulings
- Manage and mentor junior tax specialists to ensure clients receive the highest level of service
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients by acting as a trusted advisor and managing communications in a timely and effective manner
- Research into all relevant material and sources of information and produce well analysed tax opinions
- Apply and interpret research findings to specific cases considering alternative positions including adverse findings
- Demonstrate familiarity with the tax lodgement programme and tax payment requirements
- Apply an understanding of financial statements and their relevance to the tax function
- Effectively utilise compliance procedures to identify tax planning issues
- Demonstrate knowledge of relevant non-tax financial and business information
- Set up and manage engagement costs
- Possess relevant qualifications (e.g. Chartered Accountant or hold a Law Degree)
- A minimum of 5 years tax experience in a professional services environment or combination of professional services and corporate tax experience with New Zealand tax exposure
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Competent user of MS Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Professional approach to work and strong client focus
