SUSTAINABILITY ADVISOR
Maycroft Construction

A BIT ABOUT US...
We have been in business for seven decades and are (a little bit) proud to share that through our values of integrity, responsibility, respect and support, we have established a reputation as a leading construction company across the central and lower North Island. We are proudly employee-owned and have a purpose to build trust through great buildings, great people, and great relationships.
A BIT ABOUT THE ROLE...
We’re on the hunt for an experienced and passionate Sustainability Advisor to help take our mahi to the next level. Hope, our current Advisor, has done a phenomenal job getting this function off the ground, and now she’s heading overseas on a well-earned break. That’s left a fantastic opportunity for someone new to dive in and lead our next wave of sustainability work.
And what a time to join! We’re officially Net Carbon Zero, nearly at Enviromark Gold, and ready to launch our Waste Minimisation Strategy. We’re also poised to run our 2nd Summer Intern Programme – and that’s just the start.
Reporting to the CEO and working across our project sites, offices, leadership teams, and supplier network, you will embed our environmental and social sustainability strategy across the organisation. From emissions reduction and responsible sourcing to shaping behaviours and achieving credible certifications, you’ll help ensure sustainability is woven into how we operate and deliver. And, we aspire to be leaders in our field, so trail blazing has real appeal!
This is a high-impact, hands-on role — balancing strategic planning with operational delivery. You’ll be building on strong foundations while driving innovation, strengthening systems, and supporting teams to deliver practical, value-driven sustainability outcomes.
We value flexibility and autonomy, providing you with the freedom to shape initiatives and influence change across our organisation. Your proactive approach and commitment to continuous learning will be instrumental in advancing our sustainability goals and making a tangible difference.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED...
- 5+ years of experience in sustainability or environmental advisory roles
- A degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business, or a related field
- Practical experience with emissions tracking, GHG inventories, and audit preparation (bonus points if you’ve worked through certification processes)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work across teams, levels, and external partners
- A solutions-focused mindset and the confidence to lead and influence
A Green Star Accredited Professional would be great — but it’s not essential. What matters most is your drive, values, commitment to sustainability, and ability to turn plans into practice
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?
If you’re looking to take the next step in your career and want to contribute to a business grounded in trust, quality and people – we’d love to hear from you. We offer a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including a range of insurance cover, career development opportunities, and positive, supportive leadership. You’ll have the tools, trust, and backing you need to thrive — we’re serious about setting you up for success. Your wellbeing matters here. We believe in healthy work-life balance, and we’ll actively support your personal and professional growth.
