Mō Te Tūranga - About The Role

The purpose of this position is to come alongside people and help them gain control over their finances by providing quality Financial Mentoring services. Using compassion, best practice and sound independent judgment, analysis skills and experience you will assist whanau in building financial capability. Through education, guidance, and support in financial matters, you will help develop peoples' confidence in money and financial skills. In basic terms, sharing your budgeting skills to help people manage money better, reduce and/or clear problem debt, and save for future expenses.

Mōu Ake - About You

Our ideal person will have:

  • Completed the Financial Mentor Introductory Training (FMIC).
  • Experience working in a Financial Mentoring or related role, with very good understanding of financial literacy.
  • Social service experience preferred, and experience working with a wide range of people.
  • Advocacy and negotiation skills,
  • Compassion, regard for and a genuine desire to improve the quality of life with and for people
  • An awareness of the physical, emotional, and psychological. challenges of poverty.
  • An understanding and appreciation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Computer competency in the Microsoft Office Suite

This is a fixed term role for 12 months. Hours of work: 22.5 hrs, per week. days/hours to be negotiated

The starting hourly rate for this role will be $31.14
