The team you’ll join

You’ll join Deloitte’s Strategy & Business Design team, based in Auckland and Wellington, a team of innovative strategists with diverse backgrounds and skills, working with some of the largest and most iconic organisations in New Zealand. Job Description

The impact you’ll make

  • Collaborating with a team of consultants, guided by Directors and Partners, to address complex and high-impact client challenges.
  • Working directly with client executives across diverse industries, gaining insight into their most pressing strategic issues and facilitating informed decision making.
  • Developing actionable insights to drive client growth, enhance performance, and establish sustainable competitive advantages.
  • Taking ownership of project work streams, delivering high-quality outcomes while supporting and mentoring junior team members.
  • Engaging in meaningful collaboration within your team, fostering innovation and a shared commitment to excellence.
  • Building trusted relationships with clients by delivering value, sharing expertise, and identifying opportunities for additional business impact.
  • Contributing to business development through the creation of eminence and support for client engagements that drive strategic growth.
  • Expanding your knowledge and skills daily through exposure to varied industries, robust tools and methodologies, structured training, and tailored development programmes.

Qualifications

Your expertise

  • 4+ years of demonstrated experience working as part of a team on strategy, business management or delivering change in the public or private sector.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to collect, transform, and interpret data to derive insights and tackle complex business problems effectively.
  • Proven ability to lead project work streams, guide junior team members, and facilitate client workshops, interviews, and group discussions.
  • A strong understanding of strategy development and implementation, with the ability to identify opportunities for innovation and competitive differentiation. Experience in digital transformation, and operating model development is highly valued.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to share ideas with varied audiences and foster strong relationships with clients and your team.
  • A proactive approach to learning and growth, with a positive outlook when solving challenging problems and leveraging Deloitte’s network of subject matter experts.
  • A good understanding of generative AI and proficiency in tools such as Excel and PowerPoint, with a willingness to adopt new technologies to innovate and enhance client solutions.
  • Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, tikanga Māori, and Te Ao Māori, with an ability to incorporate these perspectives into client engagements.
  • Industry experience in public sector, central agencies, regulatory environments, health or not for profit or community providers, is not essential but highly valued.
