Your Tasks

As the Senior Expert Environment, you will provide specialist expertise, support and leadership in the effective identification and management of environmental hazards, impacts and aspects. This includes overseeing waste and chemicals, emissions and effluent, pollution, contamination and remediation efforts. You will be responsible for monitoring and reviewing OMV NZ Limited’s environmental performance, ensuring compliance and facilitating continuous improvement processes. Your close collaboration with regulators will be vital in meeting all legislative requirements and exceeding environmental considerations.

Some Of Your Key Responsibilities Will Include

Senior Environmental Expert and senior member of the HSSE Team, providing guidance and expertise on environmental management strategies.

Develop and implement robust systems for assessing and managing environmental hazards and impacts.

Conduct ongoing monitoring and review of environmental performance, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and company policies.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external parties to foster strong relationships focused on environmental stewardship.

Represent OMV NZ in Environment Forums, sharing best practices and contributing to the company’s strategic goals.

Prepare and submit all required environmental disclosures and ensure they align with legislative requirements.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to environmental management systems and practices.

Your Profile

University Degree Master/Diploma in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Planning or a related field.

A minimum of >7 years’ experience in environmental management, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance and performance monitoring.

Proven experience in working with environmental legislation and understanding industry best practices including a working knowledge of onshore and offshore consenting requirements.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for effective internal and external liaison.

Strong leadership abilities and a commitment to fostering a culture of environmental responsibility.

Experience in planning, remediation and pollution management is highly desirable.

A detailed understanding of the New Zealand EEZ and Continental Shelf Act, Health and Safety at Work Act Employment Act, Resource Management Act and a working knowledge of Oil and Gas Operations. Detailed knowledge of discharge management plans.
