We are seeking a reliable, experienced, and motivated Business Development manager to support daily operations and assist in managing our roofing projects, crews, and client relationships. The BDM acts as the right hand to the Company Owner, ensuring smooth on-site and off-site operations and maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

New Client Acquisition

  • Identify, research, and pursue new business opportunities within target markets.
  • Develop a pipeline of qualified leads through cold calling, networking, referrals, and industry events.
  • Conduct client meetings, site visits, and presentations to understand client needs and deliver tailored solutions.

Sales Growth & Strategy

  • Achieve and exceed sales targets through effective planning and execution.
  • Build and manage a portfolio of key clients, ensuring repeat business and referrals.
  • Contribute to the development of sales strategies and pricing models based on market insights.

Relationship Management

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, builders, project managers, and procurement teams.
  • Represent the company professionally at trade shows, industry functions, and networking events.

Operations & Project Management

  • Support planning and execution of residential and commercial roofing projects.
  • Ensure job sites are running on time, within budget, and according to specifications.
  • Coordinate daily crew activities, equipment, and material logistics.
  • Monitor progress, report issues, and recommend corrective actions.

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise roofing teams and subcontractors on-site.
  • Provide hands-on support and problem-solving when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and company standards.
  • Mentor junior team members and help manage workforce morale.

Customer Service & Communication

  • Act as a point of contact for clients when the Managing Director is unavailable.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and client walkthroughs.
  • Address customer inquiries and resolve minor issues on-site promptly.
  • Support new client acquisition and quote follow-ups to convert leads into active jobs.

Administration & Reporting

  • Assist with job scheduling, site documentation, and quality assurance.
  • Quoting on various roof solutions
  • Record site activities, incidents, and daily progress updates.
  • Support inventory management and order tracking for roofing materials.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in roofing, construction, or site supervision (5+ years preferred)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to read and interpret roofing plans and specifications
  • Working knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations
  • Valid driver’s license; white card or equivalent safety certification
  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments and adapt to varying site conditions
  • Problem-solver with a proactive and professional attitude

  • NZ residency & drivers licence
