Mechanic Assistant

GRT AUTO SERVICE LIMITED is a NZ Limited Company based in Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND.

We are looking for 2 Mechanic Assistants to join us.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist motor mechanic in identifying mechanical faults and

dismantling vehicle systems and components.

• Replace worn and defective vehicle parts under supervision.

• Reassemble mechanical components and systems once repairs are

completed.

• Change engine oil, transmission fluids, and filters.

• Clean vehicle engines, parts, and components prior to repair or

reassembly.

• Assist with installing or removing accessories and components

(e.g., batteries, stereos, tow bars).

• Maintain tools and equipment in clean and serviceable condition.

• Perform basic workshop duties such as cleaning work areas,

disposing of used parts and fluids, and organising tools.

• Follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment

as required.

• Maintain records of work performed and assist in workshop stock

control as directed.

• Move vehicles within the workshop or yard as required.

• Pick up automotive parts from suppliers or drop off vehicles when

required.

Candidate Requirements:

• Be honest, reliable and hard working

• Be physically fit as there will be heavy lifting involved

• Good work ethic

• Prepared to work weekends, public holidays and long hours as

reasonably required according to the workload

• Able to work on rotational roster with early start and/or late finish

according to the workload• Clean Criminal history

Experience or Qualification:-

• Work Experience or Qualification is not required as Full on the job

training will be provided.

Driving Licence Requirement:-

• Due to the nature of the role which involves relocating vehicles withinthe workshop or yard, as well as picking up parts from suppliers or delivering vehicles when required, a Full New Zealand Driver Licence OR Equivalent International Drivers License with an ability to legally drive in NZ and obtain Class 1 License in New Zealand afterwards is required.

Hours and Position:

• These are full-time permanent positions with minimum 30 hours + per week.

Pay Rate:-

• $25 to $30 per hour
