About The Role
We are seeking a Mental Health Act (MHA) Officer who is solution-focused, has highly development office management and organisation skills to ensure smooth coordination & application of the Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment & Treatment) Act for the Lakes district (Rotorua and Taupo) Mental Health & Addiction Services. The role is based at Rotorua and travel to Taupo as required.

As a MHA Officer your focus is on ensuring compliance with implementation of the formal legal processes related to the Mental Health Act and SACAT Act. The Mental Health Act Officer works on behalf of the DAMHS and the Director of Area Addictions and is integral to ensuring the rights of tangata whai i te ora (patients) are upheld. This includes regular liaison with court officials and other legal executives.
This position forms an integral part of the overall Mental Health Management Administration Support Team, with the particular portfolio of administrative support to the Clinical Director. You will be organized, resilient and have the ability to walk alongside people wherever their journey.

- Working in a health environment with an understanding of service delivery
- Have an eye for detail, highly organised and be a ‘stickler’ for process
- Possessing knowledge of the MHA will be an advantage
- Excellent verbal and written communication and highly professional
- Strong administrative skills
- Advanced MS Office suite
- Ability to work under pressure
