About The Role

We are looking for a Registered Nurse to join our McAuley ward.

Our Inpatient service has two ward locations - McAuley/HDU (7 day ward) and Callaghan (5 day ward).

We welcome applications from nurses with previous experience working within general surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic, cardiology/cardiac specialties and/or within a high dependency unit.

Specific duties include

  • Provide optimum patient care in accordance with Mercy Hospital Shared Purpose and Values.
  • Practice in accordance with the Domains of Competence for the Registered Nurse.
  • Work as part of a team and to handle multiple tasks safely and effectively.
  • Maintain a current Nursing Council of New Zealand practising certificate.


This is a permanent, full-time (0.8 FTE, 32 hours per week) position to be worked on a rotating roster.

Skills and Experiences:

Skills And Experience

  • Hold registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand, pursuant to the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003, as a Nurse and current practicing certificate.
  • Previous experience in general surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic, cardiology/cardiac specialties and/or within a high dependency unit.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good level of computer literacy.
  • A high degree of self-motivation, willingness, and self-responsibility to continually improve and remain current with nursing skills and knowledge.
  • High levels of professionalism with an enthusiastic, proactive, flexible approach.
