Based in Ponsonby, Auckland - hybrid working environment

At UP Education, we know that exceptional employee experiences start with strong, thoughtful operations. As our next People Operations Manager, you'll guide the delivery of smooth, consistent and compliant people processes while supporting our small, high-performing HR Coordination team.

This is a 12-month parental leave cover opportunity, ideal for someone who thrives on structure, is service-oriented by nature, and enjoys keeping things moving behind the scenes. Whether you're an experienced People Ops practitioner ready for a step up, or someone who's led small teams before and loves building capability in others – we want to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting and guiding two HR Coordinators delivering employee lifecycle processes across onboarding, employment changes, offboarding and compliance.
  • Triaging, prioritising and overseeing workflow to ensure a responsive and accurate people service.
  • Providing Tier 1 HR advice and support to employees and managers, resolving queries and preventing unnecessary escalations.
  • Maintaining process integrity, data accuracy and compliance across systems and files.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve how we deliver operational HR services and supporting implementation of those ideas.

You'll Thrive If You Bring

  • Bring solid hands-on experience in HR or People Operations.
  • Are comfortable in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift and responsiveness matters.
  • Know how to balance the detail with the bigger picture.
  • Have excellent judgement and know when to support, when to escalate, and when to roll up your sleeves.
  • Have led others before – or are ready to step up and build that experience.
