A highly respected mid-tier legal practice in Auckland CBD is seeking a Family Lawyer with strong experience in relationship property and family law to join one of the city’s most reputable teams. What You'll Do

  • Provide comprehensive legal advice and representation to clients on complex relationship property matters including separations, contracting out agreements, asset protection strategies, and trust issues related to separation or estate planning.
  • Advise clients on guardianship disputes, parenting orders, care of children cases, protection orders, safety planning, and other sensitive family law issues requiring empathy and discretion.
  • Draft court documents and agreements.
  • Manage cases efficiently from initial consultation through to resolution or court proceedings.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across the wider team on multifaceted legal matters.
  • Participate actively in professional development initiatives by attending training sessions, engaging in mentoring relationships, and contributing to knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Maintain high standards of client care by being responsive, approachable, and attentive to individual needs during what can often be emotionally charged situations.

To Be Successful In This Role You Will Bring

  • A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience (PQE) specifically within relationship property or broader family law settings in New Zealand.
  • Admission as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand with a proven track record of managing complex family law cases independently or as part of a team is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide client-focused legal advice that balances commercial awareness with empathy for individuals experiencing difficult personal circumstances.
  • Attention to detail when reviewing or drafting court documents ensures accuracy and protects client interests at all times.
