The Opportunity - Te Tūranga
TVNZ has launched several strategic initiatives to support the implementation of their 2030 Digital+ strategy and are currently seeking 2 Technical Test Leads to assist with delivery. You will be responsible for leading the execution of all aspects of software testing, release, and quality control process for the project. You will write the Test Strategy for the Project and execute the Tests with the help of testers. You will provide support for investigating and resolving any bugs or issues logged alongside helping grow and enhance testing approaches and methodologies within the TVNZ Technology Group.

Both Roles Will Focus On The Following Key Areas
Technical (as Team Lead)
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive software testing strategy, including the creation and execution of test plans, test cases, and test scripts
- Work with team members to formulate test approaches, test plans and test cases and provide guidance on optimal testing strategies for the project
- Be ready to be an individual contributor and execute test cases up to 70% of time, and work with team to ensure the quality product is ready for production deployments for 30% of time
- Schedule testing and allocate team members to ensure focus is placed on high-priority projects. Successfully manage changing priorities and juggle resource allocations accordingly
- Manage issues in JIRA, keeping JIRA in a tidy order and chasing updates on issues when required. Work with Project Managers to decide which issues need to get resolved and when
- Contribute to project planning, working closely with Project Management and other teams
- Design, specify, and execute test plans and test cases
- Collaborate closely with software development staff to identify optimal testing approaches and identify the cause of test failures
- Regularly report on testing progress, metrics, and key performance indicators to stakeholders, including senior management
- Perform API and integration testing using tools like Postman and Insomnia
- Act as a technical contributor—not just a coordinator—by helping solve issues directly and validating critical features
- Build and maintain automation testing frameworks using tools such as Selenium for mobile apps, web apps, and APIs.
What We're Looking For - Tā mātou e kimi nei:
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in software testing, or a similar leadership role
- Deep understanding of different types of testing (functional, regression, integration, and system testing) and how to apply them effectively in complex projects
- Experience in working with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and other stakeholders
- Strong expertise in developing and implementing comprehensive testing strategies, methodologies, and frameworks
- Hands-on experience with test automation tools such as Selenium, and managing automation frameworks for web and mobile applications
- Demonstrated capability in coordinating and managing release cycles, ensuring successful deployments and production support
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct thorough root cause analysis and work closely with development teams to resolve issues
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to work with internal teams and external vendors to achieve desired outcomes
- Hands-on experience with API testing and the use of relevant tools such as Postman and Insomnia
- Exposure to performance and load testing tools such as JMeter
