He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role

Watercare's Digital department is seeking a 2x Software Test Automation Engineer contractors on an 8 month contract to support the successful delivery of a DoneSafe implementation project.

This role takes an automation-first testing approach. While manual testing will still be involved, your primary focus will be to design and implement robust and scalable automation frameworks using Playwright. You'll work closely within a risk-based testing (RBT) strategy, prioritising requirements and aligning testing efforts to areas of highest impact.

Ngā āhuatanga kei a koe | What you'll be doing

  • Design, build, and maintain test automation frameworks using Playwright
  • Execute both automated and manual tests to validate DoneSafe functionality
  • Work collaboratively to prioritise requirements based on business risk
  • Identify, log, and track software defects
  • Regularly report on test coverage, risks, and results
  • Ensure best practices are followed across manual and automated testing activities

  • Solid understanding and experience in software testing
  • Hands-on experience with Playwright for automation
  • Proven knowledge of risk-based testing methodologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate across technical and business teams
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to work independently and manage test schedules effectively
