Watercare's Digital department is seeking a 2x Software Test Automation Engineer contractors on an 8 month contract to support the successful delivery of a DoneSafe implementation project.
This role takes an automation-first testing approach. While manual testing will still be involved, your primary focus will be to design and implement robust and scalable automation frameworks using Playwright. You'll work closely within a risk-based testing (RBT) strategy, prioritising requirements and aligning testing efforts to areas of highest impact.

This is a contractor position focused on delivering automated test solutions for the DoneSafe implementation. The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in Playwright and testing frameworks, with a practical understanding of RBT strategies.

Ngā āhuatanga kei a koe | What you'll be doing
- Design, build, and maintain test automation frameworks using Playwright
- Execute both automated and manual tests to validate DoneSafe functionality
- Work collaboratively to prioritise requirements based on business risk
- Identify, log, and track software defects
- Regularly report on test coverage, risks, and results
- Ensure best practices are followed across manual and automated testing activities
- Solid understanding and experience in software testing
- Hands-on experience with Playwright for automation
- Proven knowledge of risk-based testing methodologies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate across technical and business teams
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to work independently and manage test schedules effectively
