As our new Engineering Geologist based in Wellington, you’ll be a vital part of the Ground & Underground Engineering and NZ Transport team. You will play an integral part in a team of highly skilled specialists that ‘bring ideas to life’ for our clients across all types of infrastructure projects – from planning, investigation, geohazard assessments and characterisation through to designs for geohazards.

Here are the key things you will do to ‘bring ideas to life’:
- Bring experience in Engineering Geology to Aurecon opportunities and projects.
- Apply your understanding of New Zealand’s geology, codes of practice, and industry standards to deliver smart, sustainable solutions.
- Tackle real-world problems with a practical mindset and a collaborative approach.
- Communicate your insights clearly, whether it’s through technical reports, project updates, or client presentations.
- Use your industry connections and stakeholder skills to grow relationships, uncover opportunities, and help shape a resilient future for our clients.
You’ll have a genuine passion for re-imagining problems and continuous learning to help shape the future.
In addition to 3–6 years of experience in a similar New Zealand-based role, you will also bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Engineering Geology or Geology (we are open to accepting broader Geology experience)
- Proven track record in engineering geological assessments and design for infrastructure projects
- Broad range of experience in geological mapping, site investigations and detailed logging and sampling of soil and rock core.
- Ability to work collaboratively both internally within Aurecon and with our clients.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
