We now have an opportunity for a HSE Advisor to join the team. Leading the continuous development and deployment of health, safety initiatives and practices that drive our culture of zero harm at McConnell Dowell.
About The Role
- The Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation and coordination of Health Safety & Environmental activities and management plans on all of McConnell Dowell’s mechanical division as well as the fabrication facility.
- Provide advice and assistance to management and operations for the development, implementation, review, and revision of Health Safety Environmental systems and job specific documentation.
- Report, investigate and implement corrective and/or preventive actions resulting from identification of hazards, near miss incidents and work-related illness/injury.
- Ensuring that Health Safety and Environmental Responsibilities are understood across the mechanical yard, and monitoring that these responsibilities are addressed and met.
- Report on health safety and environmental matters to management including preparation of accident and loss statistics and monthly summary reports.
- Work to achieve safety targets and to build a strong safety culture.
- Monitor and plan training requirements for all employees in relation to upcoming project risks.
- 3-5 years of operational experience in the application of safety management principles in the construction industry. Experience in mechanical and fabrication activities would be preferred.
- Team player who can work alongside all work crews and communicate clearly all advise and requirements.
- Extensive experience applying Health and Safety and risk management principles in construction, ensuring compliance, mitigating risks, and promoting a safety culture.
- Able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and be resourceful and self-reliant in investigating and inquiring into issues.
- Able to organise, plan and priorities between operational and strategic issues with a proven record of delivering outcomes.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, preferably with stand-up training experience.
- Competent user of in-house software, with working knowledge of wider applications.
- Experience in investigating and reporting safety incidents.
- Working knowledge of risk assessment and audit procedures.
