Work Location: Auckland

Employment type: Full time (minimum 30 hours/per week, Monday to Saturday), Permanent role

Our pay: $27-$30.00 per hour depending on skills and experience.

We are a floor company and our work sites are mainly based in Auckland. Cross-region work may be involved.

We are now looking for carpet layers to join our supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity for the right people and will allow access into a reputable and experienced company.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

The position is responsible for the following:

Measure and prepare rooms for the installation of carpet. Select, cut, install and repair carpet for offices, homes, and buildings.

Tasks you may carry out:

• Measure rooms and draw up specifications and estimate quantities for carpet covering.
• Prepare carpet surfaces for coverings, removing and disposing of old carpet.
• Lay out samples for selection, roll out, measure, mark, and cut off excess carpet and frays
• Position the carpet, stretch it to fit, and cut off excess carpet and frays.
• Join carpet sections together for large rooms
• Glue or staple carpet to the carpet, finish edges with wall trimmer
• Utilize carpet-laying tools such as carpet shears, knee kickers, wall trimmers, loop pile cutters, heat irons, and power stretchers
• Correct imperfections in finished carpet.
• Rip of soiled sections of carpet and replace with new swatch.

To be successful you will need to:

• Have at least three years solid relevant experience, or
• Have a relevant NZ Level 4 qualification or equivalent certificates
• Be a great team player, be able to follow instructions
• Be physically fit and willingness to work hard
• Good eye for details and an ability to solve problems practically and effectively
• have "can-do" attitude
