We are on the lookout for a Hardware Support Officer for a 6-month contract, initially to join a highly respected technology division based in Auckland.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives on delivering exceptional customer service and enjoys taking ownership of incidents, requests, and projects related to retail hardware and store-based telephony devices. You will be part of a collaborative team that values integrity, respect, and achievement, working together to ensure the smooth operation of essential business technology. With a proactive approach, you will play a key role in maintaining and supporting critical hardware, ensuring all service level agreements are met or exceeded. The organisation offers a supportive environment where your professional growth is encouraged through continuous learning and development opportunities.
What You'll Do
As a Hardware Support Officer, you will play an integral role in ensuring the seamless operation of critical retail hardware systems. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve responding promptly to incidents and requests from store teams regarding register peripherals or telephony devices. You will use your technical expertise to troubleshoot issues with barcode scanners, printers, mobile devices, or radios—ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. In addition to reactive support tasks, you will participate in proactive projects such as rolling out new equipment or improving existing processes. Your ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously will be crucial as you maintain accurate records of assets using ITSM tools like ServiceNow or Airwatch. By collaborating with internal stakeholders—including project managers, operations managers, and other technology professionals—you will help foster a culture of continuous improvement. Your attention to detail will ensure compliance with security policies while your commitment to excellent customer service will enhance user satisfaction throughout the organisation.
What You Bring
To excel as a Hardware Support Officer in this Auckland-based role, you will bring proven experience from a similar technology-related position—ideally within the retail sector or another customer-focused industry. Your background should include hands-on exposure to supporting complex hardware environments involving point-of-sale systems, mobile computing devices like Zebra handhelds, barcode scanners, printers, or telephony equipment. You are adept at using ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow or Airwatch for managing incidents and tracking assets efficiently. Your strong organisational skills enable you to juggle competing priorities while maintaining meticulous attention to detail in documentation. Effective communication comes naturally to you; whether liaising with vendors about service levels or collaborating internally on process improvements. A solid grasp of ITIL best practices underpins your approach to problem-solving—always striving for continuous improvement in both user experience and operational reliability. Above all else, your commitment to delivering exceptional customer service sets you apart as someone who genuinely cares about making a positive impact on every interaction.
