Our Commercial Operations Group are a financial ‘supermarket’ delivering a broad range of solutions to support the Co-op across commercial finance, store ownership, funding, financial planning & management, data analysis & reporting, accounting & transactional services including payroll, AR & AP & master data solutions.

Te Tūranga – About The Role

Working closely with the Members Accounting Manager and senior leadership, you will work collaboratively with our Member Stores - managing the monthly close and statutory reporting, ensuring financial information is delivered pro-actively and providing targeted and actionable analysis and compliance monitoring.

Key Focus Areas Include

  • Working closely with our Member stores to run month end close process & orchestration of year end close for both group consolidation & individual store accounting needs.
  • Ensuring data integrity, consistency & reliability to support financial reporting & decision making at a whole of business and in store level.
  • Assist Member stores in achieving optimal financial performance by providing insightful, actionable analysis & recommendations
  • Leadership, orchestration & quality control of centralised tasks – including journal postings, lease accounting, compliance monitoring
  • Active identification and delivery of productivity opportunities - utilising expertise in process management, software tools, accounting systems (including SAP, MYOB, and XERO), to further enhance efficiency and accuracy of financial processes.
  • Pro-active risk management - ensuring appropriate controls, policies & processes are embedded across the business and building effective and efficient compliance and risk mitigation practices.
  • Support the Members Accounting Manager in managing the relationship with Outsource Partners
  • Leadership & direct coaching/professional mentoring for team accountants focused on growth & development for future requirements

He Kōrero Mōu - About You

With an Accounting qualification and proven business partnership experience, you will be comfortable operating both at a strategic and tactical level, taking ownership with well-developed commercial and financial acumen.

You will offer a strong track record in financial problem solving, preferably trained within big 4 practice, experience in large enterprises and will have a solid grasp of financial and management accounting, corporate governance and be skilled in the areas of risk management and working capital and cashflow.

Strong, practical commercial understanding, and a flare for simplifying complex business problems will be a strength as will be working collaboratively to influence key stakeholders.

This is a leadership role with operational management of the Members Accounting Team of 8.

You will demonstrate a strong collaboration style, be focused on solution finding, ability to interpret the ‘big picture’ and communicate that to a broad audience. We look for leaders who are connected, culture focused and have a natural ability to guide, grow, develop and support others.
