Your impact

Jacobs has secured multiple multi-year projects with leading clients across New Zealand and the ANZ region. Our Building Services team is now looking for a skilled and highly motivated Associate Mechanical Engineer to lead and work on projects primarily in the healthcare, data centres and science sectors.

Working as part of our broader ANZ engineering team, you'll have the autonomy to manage your own projects while accessing the expertise and resources of our international network. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex mechanical systems design while managing multi-disciplinary projects and building strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical systems for healthcare, science, data centre and other buildings - Manage design processes across multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Coordinate Building Consent approvals for designed services
  • Carry out construction monitoring tasks - Maintain client, professional team and contractor relationships
  • Work collaboratively with the broader ANZ engineering team

Here's what you'll need

  • 10+ years mechanical engineering experience in large-scale projects with complex service systems
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng)
  • Auckland Council Producer Statement Authorship
  • Proven building design experience in New Zealand
  • Familiarity with New Zealand Building Code and relevant standards
  • Strong client-facing and design management capabilities


This role offers the right candidate significant autonomy, responsibility and leadership opportunities. You'll need to be comfortable leading client meetings, working through complex RFIs, and building relationships across our ANZ network. While you'll have the support of our broader team, you'll need to be self-sufficient and confident in your technical leadership.
