About the role:
To assist in the delivery of high-quality teaching, learning support, and student engagement for the Master’s Programme in Software Engineering and Business Informatics. The Teaching Assistant will support lecturers and students to foster a positive and effective academic environment, contribute to the administrative and practical aspects of teaching, and uphold academic standards aligned with Yoobee’s values and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Note: This is a 12-month fixed-term role based at our Christchurch campus, working part-time hours (5 hours Saturdays, 5 hours Sundays).
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Assist lecturers in classroom preparation, tutorial facilitation, and lab sessions.
- Provide student support during and outside of class hours (as scheduled).
- Guide students on the use of tools, platforms, and technologies related to coursework in software engineering and Business informatics.
- Assist with grading, moderation preparation, and administrative follow-up under faculty supervision.
- Help organize student presentations, project milestones, and other assessment-related events.
- Support in setting up online platforms, communication channels, and class resources.
- Attend classes on weekends or evenings as required to provide in-session technical and academic support.
- Help identify students who may require additional support and refer them to appropriate channels.
Required Skills/Experience:
- A Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Health Informatics, Data Science, or a related discipline (essential)
- Prior teaching, tutoring, or relevant industry experience in a technical or academic capacity (preferred)
- Familiarity with academic tools (e.g., Blackboard, Moodle, Turnitin) and platforms for coding, modelling, or analytics.
- Experience in supporting students in research projects or postgraduate coursework is advantageous
