About the role | He Aha Te Tūranga
nib, we believe in putting our customers' health and wellbeing first-backed by smart, data-driven decisions. We're on the hunt for an accomplished Director - Actuarial and Analytics to lead our actuarial and data capability in New Zealand, shaping pricing, portfolio strategy, and performance insights across health, life and international visitor insurance.
In this influential leadership role, you'll drive actuarial excellence across pricing, reserving, forecasting, regulatory reporting, capital adequacy and business intelligence. You'll work closely with the Appointed Actuary, Board, and senior leaders including the NZ CFO and CEO to inform business strategy and deliver commercial outcomes that support sustainable growth.
What you'll be doing
- Leading actuarial functions and technical input into strategic decisions
- Driving robust pricing, risk management and reserve models across portfolios
- Delivering forecasting, capital modelling and regulatory reporting (IFRS, IPSA, solvency)
- Uplifting analytics, reporting platforms and insights capability across the business
- Acting as a key business partner to product and channel leaders
- Managing and mentoring a high-performing actuarial and analytics team
- Preparing Board papers and presenting on actuarial matters to Executives and Committees
About you | Ko Wai Koe
- Fellow of the NZ Society of Actuaries (or equivalent)
- 8+ years in a senior actuarial leadership role
- Deep insurance knowledge (health or life insurance ideal)
- Strong command of forecasting, pricing, and capital modelling
- Expertise in modern data platforms, AI and machine learning
- Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop senior technical teams
- Excellent communication skills - able to translate complex models into actionable insights
