At the Council, our love for our city inspires us as we constantly strive to make it an even a better place to live, work, and play. The Metropolitan Parks Citywide Sports Turf Team are responsible for the development and maintenance of community parks across Christchurch.
About the role | Ko te mahi nei
The Team Leader is responsible for providing leadership and day to day management of the Sports Turf Operations team to develop and maintain sports turf assets across the City's network of Sports Parks.
Some of the key responsibilities will include:
- Building and maintaining professional and respectful working relationships with stakeholders, elected members, sporting groups, user-groups, volunteers and sports field userss
- Effectively programming sports turf maintenance and improvement with an emphasis on service excellence and proactivity, ensuring a high standard.
- Managing preparation of sports fields for events including protection of sports field assets during the event period.

We are looking for a passionate individual who will inspire their team to ensure our Sports Turf meets the diverse needs of the community we serve. You will promote a culture of continuous improvement; influencing change and encouraging your team to identify and develop ways to do things better. You'll bring:
- A relevant Trade qualification (Level 4 Sports Turf Management), or practical experience equivalent in similar role
- A full driver's licence
- Grow safe certification
- Current Workplace First Aid Certificate
- Minimum 8 years relevant sports field or golf course maintenance experience
- Minimum 2 years supervisory/leadership/project management experience
- Competent with keeping self and other safe while working in the outdoors
- Demonstrated ability to undertake sports turf maintenance and safe operations of other appropriate machinery, knowledge of irrigation systems

Hours of work - 37.5-40 hours of work
Position - Permanant, Fulltime
Location - This position is primarily based at Nga Puna Wai Sports Hub, Augustine Drive, Christchurch 8025
Salary - The salary band for this position goes from $88,003 to $97,781 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
