You’ll join our team as a Consultant in Deloitte’s Controls Assurance & Advisory business based in Wellington’s CBD. Ideally, you are someone with experience in providing advice on organisational policy and process improvement, internal audit and risk-controls assurance. Two to three years’ work experience in public or private sector and/or professional services is an advantage.

Our team helps organisations look below the surface to achieve superior performance through a full range of governance, business controls advisory, internal audit and independent reviews /assessments. Teaming with a client’s first, second and/or third line functions, we work with our clients to achieve a high level of performance, assisting with enhancing controls, process efficiency, fraud risk reduction, operational quality, and obligations/ regulatory compliance. You’ll work across a range of industries and clients, keep abreast of emerging trends in governance, risk and compliance and help in developing business improvement and assurance plans.
In a highly integrated environment, for internal audit work – you’ll collaborate in planning internal audits, manage the fieldwork team, perform evaluations of control design, and carry out assessments of the effectiveness of internal controls to ensure their integrity.

The impact you'll make
- Work with partners and senior staff on a range of challenging projects to help our clients improve their organisations, helping them identify opportunities to reduce risks, streamline processes and optimise financial and operational performance
- Advise clients on process efficiency, fraud detection, operational quality, internal control and regulatory compliance. Provide pragmatic recommendations on client’s business processes, help them understand the benefits and risks of process and technology to improve performance and strengthen controls
- Actively participate in decision making with engagement management and seek to understand the broader impact of current decisions
- Create internal control documentation for the engagement including narratives, process and data flows, and other supporting work papers.
Your expertise
- 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role – in a big 4/ consulting or internal audit environment
- Legal, business management, commerce, accountancy, risk and/or internal audit qualifications
- Strong knowledge of risk management, process and control improvement, and assurance /internal audit
- Excellent engagement management, delivery, and report writing skills.
- Able to quickly understand complex client issues and apply problem solving techniques to provide recommendations which are not purely theoretical
- Ability to comfortably have discussion with senior staff members and executives at our clients
- Interested in sharing your knowledge through managing & mentoring junior staff members.
